I am praying again, Awesome One.
You hear me again, as words
from the depths of me
rush toward you in the wind.I’ve been scattered in pieces,
torn by conflict,
mocked by laughter,
washed down in drink. In alleyways I sweep myself up
out of garbage and broken glass.
With my half-mouth I stammer you,
who are eternal in your symmetry.
I lift to you my half-hands
in wordless beseeching, that I may find again
the eyes with which I once beheld you.I am a house gutted by fire
where only the guilty sometimes sleep
before the punishment that devours them
hounds them out in the open.I am a city by the sea
sinking into a toxic tide.
I am strange to myself, as though someone unknown
had poisoned my mother as she carried me.It’s here in all the pieces of my shame
that now I find myself again.
I yearn to belong to something, to be contained
in an all-embracing mind that sees me
as a single thing.
I yearn to be held
in the great hands of your heart–
oh let them take me now.
Into them I place these fragments, my life,
and you, God–spend them however you want.–Barrows and Macy, trans. 1996. Rilke, Rainer Maria. Rilke’s Book of Hours: Love Poems to God. Riverhead Books.
This is who I wish I could be sometimes.
Was there a better, kinder, more loving human being in recent memory other than Fred Rogers?
Maybe the Dalai Lama. A handful of others, I imagine.
I'm sure there are lots of people like Fred Rogers or the Dalai Lama out there who aren't well-known and go about their day being kind, loving, and supporting.
How does one get to be a Fred Rogers without faith?
I love these.

Saw this on the Gives Me Hope site and really dug it. Shame it's only oriented towards women. Some guys could use this as well sometimes, including me.
But, I recognize that there's much more pressure societally on women to be beautiful. So, huzzah to these folks!
Spread the love and beauty!

I'm enjoying the hell out of playing this free online game. Strangely addicting.
I am absurdly happy listening to Hall and Oates at work tonight. Enjoy!
I pray for the people who love me and give thanks to those, living or dead, who helped bring me where I am today.
I pray for those who hate me so they may open their hearts to love.
I pray for compassion so that I may love those who show me hate.

While looking up something on Anarchism, I stumbled across this Wikipedia entry on Gaelic Ireland (which was listed as an anarchic society).
It's a well-written article. Very informative.
Irish history has always intrigued me. Even after my visit to Ireland and I lost interest in all things "Celtic", the long history of this storied island where my ancestors came from has interested me.
